What size Dog Pod does a Springer Spaniel need?Updated 40 minutes ago

Springer Spaniels are right on the edge when it comes to sizing — and while a few have comfortably curled up in the Original size Dog Pod, it’s not the size we recommend for this breed.

Why it's a borderline fit

Springers are medium-sized dogs with longer limbs and a more active build than smaller breeds. While their weight (typically 16–20kg) might suggest the Original Pod could work, their height and stretch often make it feel a little too compact.

We’ve had a few customers tell us their Springer ended up stealing their smaller sibling’s Pod for a nap — and while it’s adorable, it’s not ideal for regular use.

So which size should I get?

We recommend going for the XL Dog Pod.

It offers:

  • A more generous footprint (100cm wide x 52cm deep)

  • Room for your Springer to lie flat or turn around

  • Extra comfort for longer journeys or daily use at home

It’s also a better option if your dog is anxious or needs a bit more space to settle.

Final recommendation

If you're buying specifically for a Springer Spaniel, we recommend choosing the XL size Dog Pod.

The Original may work for the odd nap or occasional use, but it’s unlikely to offer the space your Springer will need to truly relax — especially on longer car rides.

Still unsure? Send us your dog’s weight, age, or a photo of how they like to sleep — we’ll be happy to help you decide with confidence.
